阿富汗

考泰西人所刻地圖，及所著書，^五印度之西，^土耳其之東，止有^波斯一國，^阿富汗^俾路芝皆^波斯地，乃近代所分割，非古建國。

According to Western maps and books, to the west of the Five Indias and to the east of Turkey, there was only one country—Persia. Both Afghanistan and Baluchistan were originally Persian territory; their separation into distinct entities is a recent development, not an ancient political division.

^阿富汗，即^愛烏罕。其國北界^布哈爾，南界^俾路支，東界^印度，西界^波斯，東西二-千餘里。

Afghanistan (Afuhan), is [also transcribed as] Aiwuhan. This country borders Bukhara to its north, Balochistan to its south, India to its east, and Persia to its west. It spans more than two thousand li from east to west.
